WI v. RITTENHOUSE (2021)

On August 25, 2020, 17-year-old Kyle Rittenhouse says he went to Kenosha, Wisconsin, to help protect businesses on the third night of violent social justice protests after the officer-involved shooting of Jacob Blake. Armed with an AR-15 and a medical kit, Rittenhouse shot and killed two men and seriously injured a third. The shootings quickly overwhelmed social media and sparked a national debate about self-defense, gun rights, police reform and white supremacy. He became a political lightning rod with supporters passionately defending his actions and calling him a hero for stepping up to protect local businesses and his critics calling him an armed vigilante who had no business being out in Kenosha that night. Was it self-defense, or was it murder? It will be up to a jury to decide.
